Help for pairing Apple Watch to iPhone 14. Please!

Recently upgraded my phone to a new iPhone 14. We have been trying to get my watch to sync to it for weeks now. It detects to watch, scans the face image, goes through the set up and says the watch needs an update. The update downloads but then we get an error “cannot verify update as you’re not connected to the internet” and then the process starts over. We’ve turned everything on and off, reset the watch to factory default over and over again. I’m pulling my hair out over this! Any advice would be amazing. 🥲
