"Spatial Computing" Sounds Great, But Where Is It?
Post Body

I like the term "Spatial Computing", it evokes ideas of a new paradigm where our interfaces are no longer bound in a plane and opens up endless novel ways of interacting with our ideas and our work. Have I missed something though? The bulk of what I see in Apple Vision Pro demos seems to amounts to plastering 2D screens around a 3D space and using hand tracking to simulate a mouse combined with a vastly inferior keyboard experience. For ~$3,500 I'd really like to see something that looks like it amounts to more than a $500 Quest 3 Airlinked to a $1,000 Mac Book. Unless you're really stuck in the Apple ecosystem, I haven't seen Apple demoing much I couldn't do with a Quest and Virtual Desktop.

"Spatial Computing" requires a re-imagining of so many things in our interfaces and I'm really hopeful Apple can deliver on that, I just haven't seen it so far. For what Apple is charging, I want more than top spec hardware, I want innovation.
