Aw man I introduced a friend to backpacking about 25 years ago and his first night ever on a trail was here. We slept under the stars (on the road bed/ridge leading to this shelter) which were super bright and filled the sky! He quickly developed a backpacking obsession and he and I did numerous sections of the AT in the ensuing years.
