I've always found visualising really hard. I can see an image but it comes in flashes like if I were to imagine a chair it would be surrounded by darkness and flash in and out of view. Imagining something gives me headaches because no matter how hard I try and focus it almost gets worse.
People often talk about how they imagine characters in books but I thought that was like an afterthought but I talked to friends and they imagine scenes while they happen!??? I can imagine sounds and how the characters speak but the actual scene? That sounds crazy, no wonder I'm a fast reader
When I was younger I would cry because I felt so unimaginative and couldn't imagine things others could.
I've known about aphantasia for a while but always thought I couldn't have it because I can see flashes of images and I can dream vividly and drawing and writing isn't a struggle. But maybe there's a chance I could have a less severe version? Like on the spectrum I'm slightly away from the middle?
I'm really sorry if this is disrespectful in any way and sorry for poor formatting
