Versilia looked up at her father, bright almost glowing blue eyes filled with concern. ā€œDonā€™t worry ā€œ he said or at least thatā€™s what his lips read. Heā€™d been failing to comfort her . How could she keep calm though? For days now people in her village have been going missing but no one seemed to even notice. First the local priest and then other people sheā€™d seen around her village. But they couldā€™ve just moved away, Right?

Sheā€™d been kicking a ball around with the son of the local baker. After a bad kick that sent the ball out of sight the young boy went to retrieve it and he never returned. Versilia thought heā€™d been called inside by his mother. She mentioned it as she bought some bread to bring home. However the woman said sheā€™d never had a child.ā€How is that possible?ā€ She thought people you donā€™t really interact with is one thing. But how could a parent forget their own child. Even her father didnā€™t remember the boy that sheā€™d been friends with for as long as she could remember.

As the days passed Versilia noticed that there were less children around. The adults were oblivious to it though. It began to feel like she was the only one left in her village. She often wondered if sheā€™d be next to disappear as she looked at the abandoned toys. The thought of vanishing into thin air made her shake. No one believes her but something isnā€™t right. How could she do anything to help? That was when she had an idea. She could write a letter to the adventurers in the capital. Sheā€™d heard stories of brave adventurers, from people around the village. Her father however seemed distant when she asked about any adventures heā€™d might have gone on.

A few more days had gone by and a man delivering letters came from the capital. Versillia ran to meet him and gave him the letter sheā€™d written and what little money she had. The elven man gave her a warm smile and handed her money back.ā€ Donā€™t worry Iā€™m already heading that way.ā€ He said as he patted her head. Taking a few steps past her he paused and looked at several letters almost as if they didnā€™t belong. Versillia tried to help him but all the letters were for people whoā€™d vanished.
