Hello All,

My title says ā€œwork placeā€ but this has been a behavior of mine since way back in college, my first job, and now my second job.

The behavior is that some days I just wake up for the morning and I just donā€™t want to do anything. I call off. I used to think I was ā€œjust lazyā€ or insert whatever sentence but Iā€™ve begun going to therapy recently and itā€™s become clear I have anxiety and depression.

My therapist is getting me referred to a psychiatrist for medication and Iā€™m hopeful that will help.

However, in the meantime I am truly struggling. I donā€™t like this behavior of calling off to work, etc. I do not think itā€™s a healthy coping skills and itā€™s more avoidance of the issue than anything. It certainly does not help me in the long run or make me look reliable to my boss.

Today Iā€™m dealing with physical health issues as I was in ER on Tuesday and Iā€™m just not feeling my best overall due to some medications Iā€™m on. However, itā€™s hard not to feel like taking days off this week is another ā€œdefeatā€ when it comes to work. Which I feel like is not an accurate statement but Iā€™m having trouble not feeling that way.

I guess I say all that to say do any of you have any advice on just getting to x,y,z and just showing up even when all you want to do is roll over and sleep?

Thank you.
