Dealing with someone else's anxiety/Depression

Post Body

I have a younger new friend who has informed me that they have severe anxiety and bouts of depression.

Every so often, I'll say something, or make an innocent joke (in my opinion) and they'll let me know that I've hurt their feelings, which kills me.

So, I'm curious... what's the best way to deal with someone who suffers depression and anxiety? Should I withdraw, until they feel better? Should I press them to explain their feelings?

I honestly don't know how to handle this, and am seeking advice.

Please, be kind! Thanks.
