I’m traveling on a plane with my ESA cat as a carry on passenger for the first time and I am very anxious about the process/day of travel, has anyone done this before?

I have spoken to the airlines and they told me all the rules. Does anyone have any experience of their own to give me some advice about this? He is an ESA but not service animal, so that paperwork won’t matter. I’m just wondering if anyone can tell me how this process is going to go. I’m sorry if this is the wrong place to post. Thanks for any words you have.
