So I have anxiety
Post Body

Background: I am a premed student in the Caribbean. My parents are Indian, the strict kind that are narcissists and want nothing more than to torment your life and all those stereotypes about "GO STUDY" are true in this case.

Uh. So I had a quiz the other day that I was preparing for and my brain did a sort of a flip and I just kept thinking of the same sentence over and over and my heart raced for about five mins and it scared me because that had never happened to me before.

Later, I was trying to tell my crush I like her, and my breathing got heavy and I couldn't stand straight, my chest hurt and I just had to crash onto my bed. Thankfully I was home so it was okay.

I went to the university psychiatrist and she said "Well, it sounds like you have anxiety". She gave me some breathing methods and tips and they were very unhelpful. Also, she didn't tell me what kind of anxiety I have. I also don't really go to her regularly because my dad has contacts at the school and I don't want my family finding out anything.

so two questions,

Q1: Should I tell my family? It'll lead to heavy criticism and people saying "You're just lazy and looking to blame something" and so on. But I don't know, i have no one else to tell.
Q2: Can someone help me with tips, and what to do in such episodes, and if you guys have any idea of what kind of anxiety I have and what might be triggers?
