Iām trying to figure out if me being upset about this is justified or if I am worrying too much about what other people think. Having anxiety can cause me to withdraw too much when this sort of thing happens.
I was telling a story at work that was just a funny story that happened when I had surgery as a teenager. Basically, I said something obnoxious and funny when coming out of anesthesia.
I told this story to people at work because we were on the topic of funny anesthesia moments, and itās a story that my parents still tell to this day and I remember it well.
After I told it, one person repeatedly was insinuating that they thought I was making it up, because theyāre āpretty sure thatās from a movie.ā This has been annoying me and has made me shut off today around people. I probably am too concerned with how Iām perceived but itās annoying to not be taken seriously. (Plus, that was a very minor story. Iāve had a crazy life so I imagine if I told them about some of the really crazy stuff they absolutely wouldnāt believe it.)
