repair on french antique missal

hello all - any advice on repairing the cover of this missal? i believe it’s celluloid but the damaged connecting area seems to be some type of paper material. my first guess is that a special type of glue would be needed here but i’m not certain
also, if you happen to have any more information about this piece, please enlighten me. merci
