As far as I can recall Veganism was until recently seen as a fringe idea because it is such an extreme restrictive diet. Animal rights advocates would advise for people to vegetarian rather than Vegan. In recent years veganism has been heavily promoted eg vegan designated months, magazines and newspapers with vegan recipes, the TV programme The Great British Bake Off had a vegan week and animal rights advocates say we should go vegan rather just vegetarian. Why do you think veganism has been so heavily promoted recently.
