How do anthropologists talk to isolated tribes?
Post Body

How are they able to communicate with them effectively and accurately using a translator (especially if no one from the tribe has received, for lack a better term, formal education)? Wouldn't isolated tribes use a very distinct language?

I watched a video about the lip plates of the Mursi and Suri tribe, both of which resides in one of the most isolated regions of their country. Became interested with how they were able to interview one of the few women that refused to wear a lip plate.
