I have some questions about the transition towards agriculture from hunter gatherer.

Specifically; where did this happen first?
Can you tell me about the social groupings of these, on both sides? What do late stage hunter-gather social groups look like? How are early agrarian people grouped? What level of technology is available?
I'm working on a story idea, if you'll humor me I'd really appreciate the insight, or at least point me in the right direction.
