I’ve lived here for 18 years now. Yes, we’ve lost some things as the city has evolved, but as I walk through downtown and campus on a summer evening, I’ve realized this city is more beautiful and vibrant than ever.
The University has invested hundreds of millions in campus buildings. Private developers have added more than a dozen towers for student housing which, at the very least, contribute density and ground-floor retail. The city has done a great job with bike lanes and streetscape improvements and pedestrian areas. Retailers and restaurants are continuously opening businesses here.
That’s all I wanted to say, that our built environment is extremely beautiful.
