Dilemma between splurging on scales or sticking with prize figures

I have always wanted a full set of the K-On girls playing their instruments. However, I am torn between trying to get the scales (Alter) or prize figures (Banpresto).

The scales just look so much better (duh) and has more action, but it comes with a price and size too. The prize figures are fine I guess, but I don't want to buy it and then regret not getting the scales instead. (I try not to have multiple figures of the same characters)

How do you guys decide on which to buy if you encounter a similar dilemma?
