How much should I trust the auto-deck?

I recently have gotten enough legendary to have some not automatically put in my deck. I'm curious at what point I should take over to custom craft the deck, or if it's good enough at optimizing to make it a moot point for now? Still have a lot of combo recipes to research, so that may be a factor too.
Any cards I should focus on? Combine right away? General advice?
