I'm involved in getting Ukrainian refugees settled in my city (Pittsburgh, PA). Recently a family bought tickets on Virgin Atlantic not knowing that this airline has suspended their animal transporting service. The family is coming to Pittsburgh but if we can just get the cat to NYC (or Philly, Baltimore, Washington DC) then I can get him the rest of the way here.
The cat is currently in at a refugee center in Groningen, Netherlands but we can probably get him to Amsterdam. The family is not abandoning the cat, he will stay with some older relatives who are not sure if they will follow to the US. Of course, the family's 14 year old son is devastated that he has to leave his cat behind.
Are their any volunteer networks that can help get the cat to the US? Of course, we can pay for the extra fees from the airline. I know that there are special animal moving services but these seem to be very expensive.
