Advice on how to get Scarab Beetle (kinda urgent)

I spent time these last couple weeks scouring palm trees to get the Golden Stag. Finally last night I got it after figuring out an island visit would up my chances. THEN I find I that was not the last bug I needed for August. I tried this morning but clearly nothing. Questions are: Do I only have from 11:00pm to midnight to find one? Any ideas how to up my chances? Would an island visit be better? If so, do I visit the island at 11:00pm or could I go before to prep island? Dang beetle.
