My cat has gotten more attached could this be a concern

So my cat recently began to scratch at himself to the point we had to go get him shaved urine tested and blood tested since he’s a senior cat maybe 16 but I was just wondering could this be a bad thing, he’s started spending so much time in my room and he doesn’t want to leave or anything. The issue comes in he only left to eat or go to the bathroom bc I took him downstairs. How can I help this behaviour and lessen the issue?

Edit for anyone wondering the test was to see if he can get a steroid shot to help him stop scratching
