Can I add debounce to an input without rxJS?

I need to add debounce to an input where ngModelChange() executes an api call for search results.

I will need to do this in several areas of my application. Is it possible to do it without changing all my inputs to subjects and using rxJS to debounce?

Does ng6 have something built in?
