Anemia & related conditions
Post Body

My doctor diagnosed me as anemic, specifically iron deficient, 2 years ago. I haven’t started treatment yet. Over the past 6 months (I can’t remember exactly when it started) I started experiencing pulsatile tinnitus. I also started having chest pain, usually with anxiety & exertion. I asked for a cardiac referral, which my doctor refused, saying the chest pain could be related to the anemia. The more I learn, a lot of my issues, including the anxiety, can be tied to the anemia.

So tonight I googled the pulsatile tinnitus & found that it can be related to arthrosclerosis. I have no cardiac risk factors, or stroke. No familial history. Cholesterol is good - until a couple years ago, it was high. The only thing that really runs in the family is autoimmune disorders, dementia & Parkinson’s/Huntingtons.

I plan on bypassing my doctor & going directly to a cardiologist soon. But I was curious of other’s experiences in finding out things that either contributed to your anemia or that were caused by the anemia.

It just keeps getting better…

Edit: if I have arthrosclerosis, could getting an infusion or transfusion cause more heart problems/discomfort?
