Being referred to a hemolytic oncologist

Post Body

I’m on year 2 of having my iron being described as “precipitously low”. I tried a supplement with probiotics & vitamin c, stopped because of the GI issues it caused.

My doctor is referring me to a hemolytic oncologist, he wants me to do a colonoscopy too, which I’m reluctant to do. He refuses to refer me to a cardiologist, saying my chest pain could be the anemia or anxiety. I’m beginning to think it’s a blockage so I’m going to see if I can go on my own, with a different practice.

I am wanting to find out before I go or talk to them about what to expect. Has anyone had experience with a hemolytic oncologist for anemia?

As far as my levels, here they are:

Hemoglobin 7.2, ferritin 5, iron total 11, iron binding 428, saturation 3
