One of the local providers has free public wifi. (#Telus)
When first connecting, you hit the captive portal where you must give a name and email address.
Once entered, you have 10 minutes to open your email to click a link verifying your address.
After which, you don't need to do so again for one month, whereupon it expires and you have to repeat the above process.
You can register multiple devices with the same email address (and I have had more devices than currently, so this is almost certainly not the issue.)
For some reason, my Chinese tablet running Android 9.0 (excellent specs for low price, gamble paid off), requires me to register and reactivate at least once per day.
I don't know why.
The only search results I could find (possibly poor search terms), mention that some versions randomise the MAC address when scanning/connecting to public wifi.
But I can't find any such settings in WiFi preferences or developer options.
Sure, it's only a minor nuisance, but I'd like it to work normally/properly.
TIA for any replies!
