My first phone, after migrating from iOS was an LG G3. I didn't realised quite how customised their ROM really was until I started plying with other devices. After playing with a few other devices, I see huge differences, and I've really begun to appreciate the G3's customisation.
Other than the G3 I'm using an "old" Asus TF300T Transformer tablet (the model without the hardware keyboard), and a work phone, a Nexus 5 (it's mine, it's just what I use when I don't want to risk my G3).
What I'm looking for are apps to make my other devices more similar to the G3. I've tried finding ports, but I'm unsure of the one's I've found, if they're ported specifically to a device, and I'm not sure how much I want to be flashing ported apps to my ROM (but I'm willing too if that's what I have to do, and I'm sure the ports will work).
Launcher/Home
Please don't criticise me as crazy, but I'm content wit the the G3's Home Launcher.
* I like swiping left and right, and
* I like the little " " button in the corner that allows me to scroll through a list of my apps and hit checkboxes to add shortcuts in bulk to my home folders
* I like that it's dead simple. I realise that I could get so much more functionality out of it, but I'm tired of learning curves. There's just too much crap to be learning and keeping on top of.
Ideally, it would be awesome to port the home, but the G3's 5x5 layout may not work for the Nexus 5, or the Transformer tablet. So I'm willing to switch to a new launcher on all devices as long as it has the above features or something very close.
Keyboard
I've gotten used to the layout of the G3's keyboard. I like having the number bar and the long-press punctuation keys (I'm not pleased with only having one language spellcheck, iOS handled being bilingual better).
I have found an LG port for the Nexus 5. I haven't tried it yet on the Transformer. I've helld off because I'm not sure if it's tablet appropriate.
If anyone knows the LG keyboard and can recommend a decent keyboard with better functionality, that isn't too far different in usage, I'll be happy to take recommendations.
Texting/LGMessenger
I don't like hangouts. I want to keep my cellular SMSs and MMSs separate from other social apps. But I have no experience with other texting apps, so I don't know if what I really want to find a port of LGmessenger or if I want a different app.
Any advice, suggestions would be very helpful.
Settings
Looking at the G3's settings menu compared to the Nexus 5's is like the difference between a stripped down military vehicle compared to the luxury civilian edition withall the add-ons like the heated seats &c. Even the Transformer (still Kit Kat) makes the Nexus look minimalist.
Is there any way to beef them up, and make them a little more similar in form?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or help!
