Microsd files and android permanent memory

If you put a microsd card in your phone does its content show on your phones permanent memory even if you dont open the files on the micro sd? Could the correct programs/software brute force micro sd card items to open on your phone even if youve removed the micro sd? I hope both of these questions makes sense
