ADB Backup Questions

Hi guys.

I want to flash a new ROM but I am not 100% sure of whether I will keep it or even whether it will work (although it is definitely for my device). I currently have CM10.1 installed which is what I will revert to if I don't like the new ROM. I don't have enough storage space to do a full backup using CWM so I am backing up using the command:

adb backup -apk -shared -all

Am I right in assuming that this will back up everything except the ROM? Also is it reasonable to assume that if the new ROM goes tits up I can re-flash with CM10.1 then restore this backup to bring myself back to where I started?

Sorry if this question has been answered a lot but my google-fu is weak today.
