Space Battleship Story RPG
Post Body

Link removed until i can sort out a more appropriate one unless someone can link me?

Found this a few weeks ago when looking up some other space rpg game I spotted on here. Best described as a kind of space rpg/incremental albeit very poorly translated to the point that it's quite hard to understand the "story" behind the title. Fortunately the gameplay is very straightforward.

You begin the game looking at "Earth" (a very basic representation of a city). The Bar can be used to get a few hints on how to play by talking to the patrons, however due to the bad translation much of what they say doesn't make a great deal of sense. Home is where you configure various settings and thus you'll not look at this much except for Chip Enhancement, as you play through you'll unlock passive upgrades so you'll want to pop back in there every now and then. Library gives you data on things you've found. Cultural Affairs is where you upgrade earth itself (don't neglect this as features and new ships get unlocked here). Factory is where you research and develop new ships and weapons, be careful of spending too much in here as you'll often get what you need as drops, however all new ships (including ones unlocking in the cultural affairs building) need to be developed before you can use them. HQ is where you upgrade yourself, this increases how many ally ships you can have and unlocks skills you can develop. Finally there's the elevator which takes you to the solar system view.

When you begin you'll see Earth (takes you to previous screen), Moon (first real battle area), Space Dock (where you edit your Battleship), Space Station (where you buy your allies) and Training Ground (full of "dummy" ships to practice on, don't neglect this area as it unlocks a chip and an upgraded version of your first battleship).

Combat is mostly a case of activating your weapons in the bottom right hand corner, you can manually target ships but I tend to use auto. Your first few weapons are mostly kinetic and thus have ammo, whilst there are ammo drops these are random and to begin with don't drop much so it's wise to turn the weapons on and off as necessary. Each sector has 10 phases each ended with a boss, the final boss being a unique ship that's usually better armed than anything else in the sector. As you go through each sector some ships will drop parts or designs that will unlock or enhance the ships you can use.

There are other features to the game with I will admit I've not looked into, you can fly solo (no allies or onboard ships) you can also fly dummy runs (no idea how to do those).

As you keep playing you earn experience which gives you a passive boost to your battleships HP and improves the skills you unlock in the HQ, unfortunately whilst you can see your skill level you cannot see the effect of the skill and curiously whilst many skills go up to a max of 9999 your level only goes up to about 6400.

What I like about the game however is that there is a clear and steady sense of progression as you slowly unlock new ships or improve the ships and weapons you've got and the game does quite well at pacing you...or it did me until I got to Pluto and now I'm stuck due to these little but very quick ships that I can't easily hit! (so if anyone plays this and has any advice, let me know!)

Oh and beware the Asteroid Begimos, don't feel compelled to tackle it early game or even by the time you get to pluto, you can only fight it with allies and you need some pretty decent ones to stand any chance of winning, however losing only results in a loss of half your population, there's no permadeath!
