First off, to those who don't know, Google My Maps Editor allowed you to mark and share points via GPS on your phone and synchronize them with your maps in Google Maps. It was a great program for saving and sharing favorite spots and being able to look at them from anywhere.
I take photos and I pretty obsessively added and shared spots that I really liked in the area using Google My Maps. Suddenly, Google stops supporting the damn thing and later I learn that they're going to completely drop the Google My Maps API by the end of the month.
Anyone else sorely miss the application? Anybody else think Google made a big mistake removing it? My Maps Editor was one of my main "demo apps" when I was looking to impress friends at the Google/Android direct link and synchronization and at least three of my friends regularly used it. It also seems that there are THOUSANDS of people on the market pretty pissed that it's not working as well.
So, I'm going to end my useless gripe with a few questions to those who may be more learned on the subject than me:
First, are there any good alternatives to My Maps Editor that work as seamlessly and perfectly with Google My Maps?
Second, will any of these programs work after the deadline for the Google My Maps API, or is Google going to just totally forget about any link with My Maps?
TL;DR - I am a whiny bastard and I am very sad that Google My Maps is being deprecated with no reliable equivalent.
