Since I upgraded to CyanogenMod 6.0, I've had a ton of problems with keeping important stuff running in the background.
Some examples:
- Google Navigate will NOT stay open unless I keep the screen completely active. This sucks because the screen drains battery and I used to be able to turn everything off and re-open it when I got close to an exit.
- Google Tracks service would shut down completely halfway through my bike ride.
- Pandora will not stay open in the background.
- Google Talk service shuts down often, screwing up my ability to get Google Voice and other google-related push notifications.
This stuff happens on both my phone as well as my wife's. We both have MT3G. Neither of us had problems with the previous version of Cyanogen.
I'm told that compcache can help to a degree, but when I turn it on I only see VERY marginal improvements and it ends up slowing my phone down in time.
I've also been told that enabling swap will help, but it sucks because it can slow down the phone and it's sort of a pain in the ass to get all worked out since it's not included in CM any longer.
I might be preemptively worrying since we're still in the RC stage, but I figured I'd consult with the resident Reddit users to make sure I'm not crazy and to see if anybody had figured out any solutions that work well.
