With the recent news about Apple supporting RCS, I've been thinking about the similarity between Apple's iMessage and Blacberry BBM. While personally I think supporting RCS is good for the overall public, I also understand Apple's point of view being resistant towards supporting a cross-platform protocol.

I remember back when Blackberry phones were popular, one of the main benefits that came with them was the ability to use BBM which was exclusive to Blackberry phones. During those days, I don't recall being so much pressure to bring iMessage to non Blackberry phones yet fast forward 10 years later and things have changed quiet a bit.
