Why is it that, the RAZR MAXX can have a 3300 mAh battery and still be thin? Why is it that some phones are fatter and have way smaller batteries? Why don't they put bigger batteries in phones?

For example the Razr Maxx, has a huge battery and all that yeah? But say... the Rezound has a smaller battery 1620 but is fatter and heavier. Why can't they put bigger batteries in phones like Motorola did with the MAXX?
