I couldn’t help but wonder: If we loved this show and these characters so much, why are so many people having a hard time connecting to the reboot?

First, let’s remember why we loved the original show so much. I think (I may be wrong) that for most of us the show was somewhat relatable. It had it all: Friendships, relationship struggles, sex, money problems, life problems.

But it dawned on me that the reboot probably isn’t relatable for 90% of its viewers. Most of us don’t have giant walk in closets, in penthouse apartments and hundreds of shoes. Door men and Louis Vuitton scarves. Wildly outlandish stylish outfits while having lunch with friends, in upscale restaurants packed with trendy people.

Then, we take these perfect women and drop them into a show where they are struggling with racial commentary and sex podcasts…. You know, things most of us are fairly aware of. The show WANTS us to empathize with their awkward missteps and ignorance, but that’s hard seeing as how the rest of us had to live in the real world all these years… while they were presumably in a Park Avenue penthouse, completely disconnected from society.

I love seeing these women on screen again. And I for one, will keep watching. I do love that although my ride or die Samantha isn’t in the show, they pay homage to her in a clever way. I’ve lost a close female friend who I thought we’d be friends forever, so I know the feeling.

I may be way off, just giving my feedback. The show is certainly glamorous, but it feels like we are watching the SATC 3 movie, cut up into 45 minute segments. Let’s hope it doesn’t suffer the same fate as Big, and run itself into an early grave.
