Good day you beautiful people, I do apologize before I get started for any formatting issues, on mobile and you know how it is.
I posted a rather fun, or at least I had fun, post on the coincollecting subreddit and it’s been completely ignored so I turn to you for help my dear brothers, sisters, and anyone in between.
I’ve just within the last week began to enter the world of coin collecting. After years of collecting random bits and bobs I’ve decided to put my focus on coins. I’m a huge history nerd and I feel like the only real way to own a piece of history is this or war memorabilia and I’m too much of a pacifist for the ladder.
Now for the meat and potatoes of this post. I’ve made a biddr account because I’m too socially anxious to go to any of the coin stores around me. Won a few coins off of an auction on Saturday but it’s left me with a few questions.
- How to spot a fake?
- are there any auction houses to be avoided on biddr?
- are there any reputable online stores?
- what is the best way to store and/or display your collection -are there any hard copy resources I should be looking into acquiring? -and finally the most important how are y’all not broke? :p
On a more serious note if there is anything I’m obviously missing please do tell me. My brain is a sponge for knowledge so any information or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Signed, Bearjew
