Should I be a weirdo and message someone on Facebook?

Post Body

My mom was born in Vietnam in 1965. It was a brief fling for my grandma and she never got a chance to tell him she was pregnant because he went back to the states. My mom only knew his name, Jimmy Bob (not real name). This past year, I got my DNA back and found a relative that has the same last name as him. From how much DNA we have in common (14% shared DNA) it says she's possibly my half aunt, so my moms half sister.

I did some digging and there was not very much information on her family tree. I sent her a message in June, asking if she knew who Jimmy Bob was/is but I haven't received an answer. It's likely she is just not active because it says it's been a year since she's logged in. I forgot about it, until today. I saw a lot more information has been added to someone else's family tree (a match we have in common). I was able to find information online about Jimmy Bobs family and that maybe he's still alive. I found his kids on Facebook. I feel like a stalker looking this stuff up and finding them on Facebook. My mom wants to know more information about her bio dad but is afraid to message them. I also am afraid to message them because it feels weird because how much I had to dig to find them.

What do you guys think? Should I just wait longer to see if I get a response on the Ancestry website? Or just bite the bullet and message one of them and if they don't answer, then leave it alone.
