Anyway to find out more about non-blood family members?

Hi folks,
So my dad is adopted and he spent most of his life trying to figure out more about his blood family. Eventually, he did.
However, after that was all done, it made me wonder about our non biological family I had grown up around my whole life.
I was curious if there was anyway I can go about finding more info on them? It is obviously very hard as we are non bio related.
