Will regular capitalism always evolve into corporatism in a completely free market?
Post Body

To begin, I'm on the fence when it comes to both capitalism and socialism/communism. I see the benefits of both as well as the drawbacks.

In terms of capitalism, I like the form of it which involves small business owners being able to provide goods and services to their local communities. Larger companies and corporations exist but they have to compete with the smaller businesses and are barred from any unfair advantage to dominate their market and form monopolies. This, everyone truly has a chance to be a entrepreneur/ small business owner wherever the market is ripe for something. You want to sell groceries, you can open a corner store somewhere. You're a doctor, plumber, hairdresser, artist, mechanic, etc? You can do that and Walmart, Target, or any big name corporation can't force you out or outcompete you.

However, that's the thing. In a free market, competition is encouraged and necessary. As a result, there will be winners and losers. In order to win, you have to acquire more capital and control over the market for your company. The bigger, more successful companies are going to beat out or acquire the smaller ones until a few big ones exist. That's pretty much corporatism. These companies, as we know, make it tough for everyone else. You may have to join one of these corporations in order to live a decent life and they have tons of money that they use to lobby and make sure that the government is on their side.

According to socialists, corporatism is a form of late-stage capitalism. Since this reddit board is anarcho-capitalism, you guys are for a more people-friendly form of capitalism. Will capitalism, whether with or without government intervention, always evolve into corporatism? Or should there be some safeguards put in place to ensure competition allows for multiple companies and businesses having a piece of the pie?
