What will the world look like without copyright?
Most artists are annoyed, but overall otherwise can't and won't do anything about their ending up on ThePirateBay, background music or clips on YouTube, remixed, Photoshopped, etc. Truth is; (as all artists know), unless you are RIAA, you can't sue some random internet user for downloading your MP3 or similar copyright license violations. It sucks, but we mostly want people to feel some sense of obligation to pay for our work if they want it, or use it.
The real problem with eliminating copyright looks more like this, except with big names like Apple joining in: "Woah. An artist & record label has flat out stolen (literal copy/paste) our tracks and is promoting and selling them as his own."
I.P. is not property, so he shouldn't be complaining, right? Perhaps my cognitive dissonance prevents me from realizing how the above is genuine "healthy competition" and actually a good thing, but these are the kinds of real-world problems any successful artist faces. I know, because I've been there many times.
Considered from an artist's point of view (empathy), how is eliminating the concept of copyright all-together not "throwing artists under the bus."
EDIT: Fine, I'm dropping the debate. It appears I'm outnumbered 100:1 and challenging persons mostly seems to incite anger. I see why everyone else has dropped out, looks like I'll be doing that from now on too.
