What role does religion play in statist thinking?
Post Body

In standard r/gue style, here is the thesis statement:

"Religious rules and rituals taught to children lays the foundation for people to live in a society run by the state."

Argue away. Please provide links to articles, books, videos, etc.

To help with with the discussion, here are a few links to churn the pot:

Ideology and the formation of early states by H. J. M. Claessen, J. G. Oosten

Anti-Statism at Light Speed part 1 by fringeelements (long video, but very nuanced)

One thing: I expect comments to be civil. I realize that this is basic reddiquette, but religion is such a hot-button. Nevertheless, I hope the readers of r/anarcho_capitalism can hold back their emotions to achieve useful debate.
