Data: War on Police. Q: Are increases in body and vehicle armor use the reason we aren't seeing more deaths? A: Probably not.
Post Body

A responce in /r/libertarian got me thinking and I thought I'd share some quick and dirty research.

A graph for percentage of police officers assaulted with firearms and percentage injured

It should be noted that these are not significant trends (T= -1.45398 P= 0.18403 for percent assaulted) but does not appear to fit a narrative that there is a war on police and the reason deaths are not on the increase is because of increased body and vehicle armor use.

Inspiration for this post:

FBI’s Own Report Exposes “War on Cops” as Pure Propaganda — It’s the Citizens Who Are in Danger

I noted that the most pertinent section was:

Preliminary statistics released today by the FBI show that 41 law enforcement officers were feloniously killed in the line of duty in 2015. This is a decrease of almost 20 percent when compared with the 51 officers killed in 2014.

A responce:

Sounds like the body armor and bulletproof vehicles are working. Why do libertarians want to take them away?

It doesn't seem Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted (LEOKA) as been published for 2015 but I ran the numbers from 2005 to 2014.
