I've seen many posts lately that have been a bit out of date. Often they reference covid stuff and are titled in a way that it makes you think the image is current when it's not. "These workers are walking out over vaccine mandates." Then the comments point out the bad bot.
But why is this a thing to begin with? Somebody launched it but what is the motive? To make the board look more active, or to forum slide and dumb down the subreddit? I also have reason to believe bots are a part of the upvoting here. It's just that articles don't perform here at all no matter how good the topic, title, article, and site it's on.
It really is dumbing down discussion because a lot of the posts that I suspect are part of the meme bots are very tongue in cheek, intentionally stupid, and ironic. Don't get me wrong. I love that humor. But when it's the whole page and nothing else can perform at all it kind of makes us look dumb and feeds into the left's view of us. Like when 90% of the posts are "ha ha I really am kind of a fascist" how does that make us look. It's funny because it's not what we actually believe and overly aggressive memes on the internet are funny. They really are. Especially when the left can't take a joke and take everything literally it is even more funny. But what does it look like when all the content that's actually able to perform here is ironic and intentionally stupid, especially to a group of lurkers who have no sense of humor to begin with? We might be shooting ourselves in the foot trying to sell anarcho capitalism as reasonable.
So I don't mean to say, "guy's these memes aren't actually funny, stop!!" What I mean to say is that the ratio is all wrong and I don't really blame the user base when I think bots might be a part of the problem. Again, I'm not against dumb memes. It's just the absolute self defeating degree of their exclusive dominance. The more paranoid part of my brain likes to entertain the idea of leftoids spamming the subreddit to chase users off with sheer boredom of the sameiness a couple bots posting the same kind of content en masse and upvoting themselves can generate. Maybe we heed it and go to ancaps.win. Or maybe none of you agree and everyone thinks it's fine here.
