So I have been a longtime fan of Makhno and his revolution in the Ukraine from 1917-1921; there is a few issues I have though with every Anarchist claiming that these people were even halfway Anarchist. I am an Anarcho-Syndialist and Makhno is my personal hero, but Anarchy needs objectivity as I won’t allow my fellow individuals to be brainwashed into consuming media that has been spun every which way. So here are my critiques of Makhnovia; 1. Conscription (later on in the war) 2. Ethno-centric policies (eradicating small German villages around the Don, Volga, and Ukraine) 3. Military hierarchy 4. Raiding and looting (of villages that were non-violent and didn’t want him there) 5. Allying with Bolsheviks/Whites/UNR/etc (for political gains) I’d love to talk about this more and if people could bring these up in order to dispell the idea that Makhnovia was perfect, then I’d just really appreciate that. P.S. I will gladly source anything and will gladly take sources :)
