Does anyone have ideas or suggestions to do this:

• To not have a bank account, in particular to not have one with my personal information attached to it. An online identity is OK.
  
• To store most of my earnings in solid assets. I.e., gold. What's the best way to keep this safe?
• Aside from just keeping money under the mattress, what's a good way to keep at least cash available for everyday use, but without a bank account?

Would love to really, really get out of the system. Some ties are fine, but I don't want to be using the big giant banks (or really local ones either) anymore.
