So, i was gifted this camera ages ago (A soviet leaf shutter, half-frame Chaika 3) and tried putting a roll through it which came out absolutely destroyed, ripped borders and it looked like the film hadn't even been pulled along. I took the camera apart and found out that the shutter has a couple of problems: 1. there's a little pin at the top which moves along and pushes two levers when the shutter is fired which engage the shutter blades and open them for the correct amount of time, however if i advance the frame too fast the whole camera gets stuck and I cant fire or advance, sometimes the pin doesnt even reach the rest of the shutter mechanism to engage the shutter, it just stays a millimetre away from the rest of the shutter mechanism and although it sounds like the shutter has fired normally and you can advance there is a chance it hasn't opened at all! The second problem that I have is the pressure plate on the film door is way too tense, it pushes the film too hard down making it hard for the sprockets to pull the film along which results in ripped borders and a crunching noise when you try to advance. Is there a simple fix to this like oiling the gears or is this more complicated than that? I know soviet cameras aren't always the best but i was really hoping i could fix this one since it was a gift from my grandad.
