Konica A4 (Big Mini) not rewinding film at the end of a roll

As the title suggests, once the roll is finished the camera motor makes a slight noise indicating it wants to rewind the film but then gets "stuck" and stops. The first roll I shot with the camera rewinded normally, since then i've had this issue. I've tried looking up on google possible reasons as to why it does this.
-the film ribbon looks fine, not ripped or torn
-i have fresh batteries
in another forum someone suggested cleaning the sensor/contacts? I'm not sure where those are. Other than that I'm scratching my head as to why it's stopped rewinding the roll
Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to scrap this camera, it's a lot of fun to use.
