How to use a Gitzo Junior self-timer?

Hi there, does anyone know how to use one of these Gitzo self-timers? I got one used (obviously, as they stopped making them in the 80s), but I can't seem to figure out how to "arm" it. The pin just stays down all the time.
Is it broken? Or is there some method needed?
Unfortunately, I can barely find any information about it online.
