I am looking to get into scanning my own film at home with a digital camera. I don't own anything digital (with more than 10 megapixels) yet and am in the market for a mostly-dedicated film scanner.

I shoot 35mm and 6x9 120 film. I use a darkroom to print B&W and would probably only use this to scan color film for a. archiving digitally and b. ordering prints up to 11x14 or 8x10.

I would like to be able to lightly edit my scans in Lightroom/equivalent software.

I do not want to spend more on a digital camera than I've spent on my film cameras, so lets say a ~$700 budget. Obviously cheaper is better, and I have my eyes on a couple used models that go for around $500.

Those models are:

Panasonic LUMIX G9

- Micro 4/3 (is it big enough for 6x9 negatives?)

- Would buy the 30mm macro

- In-camera "high resolution mode" aka pixel shift

Sony a7ii

- Full Frame (I've heard this means better colors as well as larger images)

- Not sure of the best lens for scanning

TLDR;

I'd like a digital camera for scanning film. Should I go for a smaller sensor (with pixel-shifting) or a full frame camera around the same price range?
