June 3rd was diagnosed with an anal fissure by doctor after thinking I had hemorrhoid that was causing the pain. Doc prescribed Nifedipine and a Lidocaine to help with healing and pain- I’m also doing stool softeners every morning, and taking epsom salt baths.

Thankfully pain has subsided, it was at one point waking me up in middle of the night. Now it’s semi only when having a BM.

Not sure how I got it. Wasn’t through anal insertion, sex, constipation, or a specific instance where I recall instantly being able to pin point the tear - so who knows. Also what I believe is a skin tag has formed as well. (I’ll spare you the photo)

For a period of time I had some discharge, which I read online some was normal, and no wasn’t an STi or STD, because all of those test came back negative and am tested every 3 months.

Have an upcoming appointment with a Colorectal Surgeon in a week to get their perspective and opinion. Other than explaining what home treatment I’ve been doing, and the obvious once’s What questions should I be asking them? How do you tell at home of its healing? How long should I expect it to last, does it ever truly heal, what precaution to take from re-tearing or from having a new tear?

I still experience some discomfort even when just sitting for a bit, as well as still when having BM. Thought about stopping meds b/c I’m not sure how to tell if they are working, and possibly switch to Neosporin - thoughts? Also should I apply the meds in my rectum since I don’t know exactly where the tear is, or if it’s on the walls of the sphincter….

I hate that we all have come to this thread, b/c I know the pain we have all been in, but so thankful to hear from others, share experiences to educate and maybe even give hope, and equally offer advice of what to avoid. I told my mom it’s like a support group for assholes…. But not the rude kind. Legit butt pain! Help, and thanks in advance.
