Advice needed
Post Body

Hi everyone,

I am reaching out for some advice. I've been dealing with an anal fissure for 3 months now. No blood, but pain during BW and some days I develop pain in the afternoon that raiders to my lower back, coccyx and buttocks.

I am on high fiber diet fiber supplements. Trying to drink a lot of water. Nifedipine twice a day (for 2 weeks weeks), had been using nytroglicerine oitment prior to that. I've been doing sitz baths, and applying Vaseline prior to bowel movement. This has been my regiment for almost 5 weeks. My fissure is not getting any better at the end. There were some a few great days in a row that make me feel like I'm getting somewhere, but then one hard stool, or two BW within a day and it throws me back to square zero. What can I do to make the progress more stable? I take a pill of a stool softener in the morning and I'm hesitant to increase the dose because I don't want to get too used to it. My surgeon claims that they don't do Botox in such an early stage (he said we would reassess in a year). The reasoning behind it is because it may cause incontinence. However, I'm concerned that if I wait too long then Botox may not help as much as if it's done earlier. Has anyone had experience with that? And my last question: I was using the sitz baths that go over the toilet, my surgeon doesn't recommend using those. Instead he wants me to sit in a bath tub, he didn't explain why. Does anyone have any information on this topic?
