Spectrum coming around offering 1G internet to compete with AT&T

Last night we had someone come to our house to offer us an upgrade to our current service (300 MB) to make it 1G and it comes with a camera from ADT all for ~65/mo with a 2 year contract. She said it was to compete with AT&T rolling out fiber in our area. Has anyone heard of this? I checked and AT&T is only offering really crappy DSL or "Internet Air" (LOL). If they are going to roll out fiber i'll hold off, otherwise i'll take the upgrade.
